Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has boasted that the outcome of Saturday’s by-elections has buried both the Labour Party (LP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, declaring them “dead” and “non-existent.”
Speaking at a victory rally in Nanka on Sunday, the governor mocked former governor Peter Obi for backing ADC candidates, stressing that APGA’s sweeping win showed that “the people of Anambra have spoken loudly.”
According to Soludo, the by-elections — where APGA candidates Ifeoma Azikiwe and Emmanuel Nwachukwu won with overwhelming margins — were meant by opposition forces to test their popularity, but the results sent a strong message that “APGA is the only movement in Anambra.”
He added that the ADC’s poor performance and the Labour Party’s collapse in Obi’s home constituency of Onitsha North were emphatic proof that both parties have been rejected.
“They wanted to use it as a test case for the new concoction called ADC in Anambra, but APGA crushed them. Labour Party and ADC are politically dead here,” Soludo declared to jubilant supporters.
