Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has welcomed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara back into his political camp, insisting the governor committed no offence by reconciling with the political family that brought him to power.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday after inspecting ongoing road projects in the FCT, Wike dismissed claims that Fubara’s return required forgiveness, stressing that politics is about making the right decisions when circumstances change.
According to the minister, there is no sin in politics, adding that recognising a mistake and taking steps to correct it should be commended rather than criticised. He recalled that he had earlier predicted Fubara would eventually reunite with his political family, saying the governor had no better alternative.
Wike said Fubara’s public declaration of reconciliation would foster unity in Rivers State and strengthen efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general election.
The minister made the remarks while inspecting key infrastructure projects, including the ISEX Road Corridor and the Apo-Karshi Road, where he expressed satisfaction with the pace of work. He disclosed that the contractor handling the ISEX Road had assured the government of completing major sections of the project before December, provided adequate funding is released.
Wike reiterated the Tinubu administration’s commitment to completing inherited projects, arguing that responsible leadership lies in sustaining and delivering projects that benefit the public rather than abandoning them for new initiatives. He expressed confidence that the ongoing road projects would significantly improve infrastructure and drive economic development across the Federal Capital Territory.
