Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has declared that all governors in the South-East are fully behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Speaking in a video shared on Instagram by Ebonyi 1st Choice News Media, Umahi emphasized that the region’s governors are united in their support.
“All the governors of the South-East are supporting the president for 2027. There’s no governor in the South-East that is not supporting him,” Umahi stated, citing Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, and Imo as examples of leaders actively aligning with Tinubu.
The minister also argued that his track record qualifies him to lead the region’s push for the presidency when power rotates to the South-East.
“When the presidency comes to the South-East, I should be at the forefront because of my performance. I’ve asked for a debate with anybody who feels otherwise. I created something out of this state, and God used me to do it,” he asserted.
Highlighting his achievements both as governor and minister, Umahi maintained that his record surpasses those of his contemporaries.
“We compare governor to governor, time to time, and compare what you have done. I beat my chest and say God has used me, and President Tinubu has used me, to better the lot of the South-East. You can tell when last we had it this good,” he said.
On the region’s pathway to producing a president, Umahi urged the South-East to prioritize strategy over emotion.
“My advice is that we must re-engage. We can’t get the presidency by sentiment. We need to support other regions, and at the time appointed by God, nobody will stop it. And who knows? At that time, it may be the man standing here as your minister,” he added.
