A former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Katsina State asserts that the current coalition discussions among some opposition politicians will transform into a strong “platform” to contest President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling APC in the 2027 general election by the end of this month.
Key figures leading this coalition include former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, and ex-Transport Minister Chibuike Amechi.
Inuwa, speaking at a meeting in Katsina designed to inform stakeholders and supporters about the coalition’s progress, stated, “We need a dependable and trusted platform to defeat this government, and by God’s grace, the leadership will finalize the choice of platform by the end of this month.”
He further emphasized that the coalition’s collaboration among the former Vice President, former governors Rotimi Amechi, Peter Obi, and Nasir el-Rufai with other political parties is essential for Nigeria’s future.
“In order to advance in all areas of human development as a nation, we must address the lack of effective leadership in Nigeria, despite being Africa’s giant. It’s clear that we have fallen behind other African nations,” he noted.
Inuwa, who previously served as Secretary to the Katsina State Government, encouraged supporters to pray for the coalition’s success. He criticized the mass defections to the APC, suggesting that those leaving are merely “jumping from the frying pan into the fire.”
He remarked, “What’s happening within the APC mirrors what occurred in the PDP, particularly during party congresses. Local Government elections in Katsina were allegedly held to favor only those whom the government wanted to compete, which will likely continue in future elections.”
“Our primary focus is the electorate since they ultimately hold the power to decide, and they are with us just as we are with them.”
