MASSOB Appeals to Tinubu for Kanu’s Freedom

by Tunexreporters

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has urged President Bola Tinubu to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to promote national unity.

MASSOB leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, stated in an interview with The Nation that Kanu’s release would aid in national reconciliation and foster improved relationships between various ethnic communities and the Federal Government.

He contended that freeing Kanu would open avenues for discussions aimed at resolving the issues faced by the southeastern region, which have fueled demands for self-determination and increased autonomy.

He explained, “Our plea for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release captures the sentiments of many individuals and groups in Igbo land, Nigeria, and globally who advocate for his release, viewing it as a vital step towards resolving larger political and social concerns.

“MASSOB’s request not only calls for Kanu’s freedom but also embodies the wider aspirations for justice and acknowledgment of the rights of the Biafran people within the Nigerian federation.

“The result of this appeal could impact future dialogues between the government and Nigeria’s various ethnic groups.”
