The Federal Government has announced that Thursday, June 12, 2025, will be a public holiday to honor this year’s Democracy Day celebration.
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this announcement on behalf of the government.
He extended his congratulations to Nigerians for reaching 26 years of unbroken civil governance.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, he remarked that “June 12 signifies our historic journey toward establishing a nation where truth, justice, and peace prevail, ensuring a secure future for us all.
The past 26 years reflect our resilience, strength, and courage, instilling a renewed hope.”
Emphasizing that democracy thrives with continuous improvement, the Minister reaffirmed the Renewed Hope government’s commitment to the universal principles of democracy, grounded in the people’s freely-expressed will to shape Nigeria’s political, economic, social, and cultural landscape.
