Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has characterized Governor Umo Eno’s switch from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “historic,” suggesting it will bring increased investment opportunities to the South-South region.

In a statement on Saturday, Okpebholo congratulated Eno on his transition to the APC, praising his courageous choice to join the party’s “progressive ideals” and national vision.

He pointed out that this decision reflects a strong commitment to the growth and advancement of Akwa Ibom State and will facilitate its integration into the federal government’s development agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope initiative.

“Governor Umo Eno’s choice to join the APC highlights his foresight and concern for his constituents,” Okpebholo remarked. “It represents a strategic collaboration that will likely unlock further opportunities, enhance partnerships, and expedite the delivery of democratic benefits to the residents of Akwa Ibom State.”

The Edo governor stressed the vital need for unity and collaboration between states and the Federal Government to achieve optimal progress.

He expressed his belief that Eno’s defection would bolster the APC’s influence in the South-South region and significantly aid in national unity and development. He reassured Eno of the continuous support and cooperation from the Edo State Government and the APC, and he anticipates collaborating closely with Eno to promote good governance, economic growth, and the overall welfare of Nigerians.
