Portugal and Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has officially become the first footballer in history to reach billionaire status, following the confirmation of his new contract with the Saudi Pro League giants.
According to Bloomberg, Ronaldo’s net worth has soared to an estimated $1.4 billion (£1bn/€1.2bn) after signing the most lucrative contract extension ever seen in professional sports.
The new two-year deal, signed in June, will reportedly see the 39-year-old earn an astonishing £178 million per year, equivalent to £488,000 per day. In addition, he received a £24.5 million signing-on fee, which could rise to £38 million if he continues into the second year of his contract.
Throughout his illustrious career, Ronaldo has amassed an extraordinary list of achievements — seven league titles, five UEFA Champions League trophies, and the record for being the most-capped men’s international player with Portugal. With 946 official goals, he remains the highest-scoring male player in football history.
Ronaldo now joins an elite group of global sports icons who have surpassed the billion-dollar milestone, including Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James, whose exceptional success both on and off the field has earned them a place in this exclusive club.
