The National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress has appointed Yilwatda Nentawe, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, as the new chairman of the party.
Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State and leader of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, proposed the motion during the Committee’s 14th meeting at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
The motion received support from Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Following this, Nentawe was promptly sworn in.
He took the oath of office at 2:50 PM, surrounded by party leaders, during the 14th NEC meeting on Thursday.
Nentawe, who is from Plateau State in the North Central Zone, was the APC’s candidate for Governor in the 2023 elections.
