Tinubu Postpones Foreign Trips Over Kebbi Kidnapping, Kwara Church Attack

by Tunexreporters

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has halted his planned visits to South Africa and Angola due to new security incidents in Kebbi and Kwara states, the Presidency announced on Wednesday.
A statement issued by Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga said the President suspended his trip to the G20 Summit in Johannesburg and the AU-EU Summit in Luanda after receiving reports of the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi and an armed assault on worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.

Tinubu is said to be awaiting comprehensive security updates on both incidents. Responding to appeals from the Kwara State Government, he ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the wider Ekiti Local Government Area, directing the police to pursue the attackers.

The President is also expecting briefings from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who travelled to Kebbi on his behalf, as well as reports from the Police and the DSS.
He reaffirmed his instruction to security agencies to ensure the rescue of the 24 kidnapped schoolgirls, insisting that all efforts must be exhausted to bring them home safely.
No new date has yet been set for his postponed foreign trips.
