President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Wednesday for a two-country working visit to South Africa and Angola. His first destination is Johannesburg, where he will join world leaders at the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit taking place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from November 22 to 23. The summit, themed “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” will gather heads of the world’s major economies, the European Union, the African Union, and top global financial institutions.
Across the two-day meeting, discussions will focus on inclusive and sustainable development, global trade, climate action, just energy transition, food systems, disaster risk reduction, critical minerals, decent work, financing for development, and the future of artificial intelligence. President Tinubu is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings aimed at promoting his Renewed Hope Agenda and engaging on issues of regional and international security, peace, and development.
After the G20 engagements, the President will travel to Luanda, Angola, for the 7th African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Summit scheduled for November 24–25. The summit will bring together leaders from both continents, as well as youth representatives, innovators, and civil society groups, to address shared priorities such as climate resilience, infrastructure, the digital economy, creative sectors, industrialisation, agribusiness, and inclusive growth.
President Tinubu will be accompanied by senior government officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake; Minister of Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
He is expected to return to the country at the conclusion of both summits.
