The Nigerian Senate will on Wednesday conduct the screening of the newly appointed Service Chiefs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio disclosed this during plenary after reading a formal communication from President Tinubu requesting the Upper Chamber’s confirmation of the nominees.
The nominees slated for screening are General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General Waheedi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff; Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke, Chief of Air Staff; and Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff.
According to the Presidency, the appointments form part of a broader strategic realignment aimed at strengthening professionalism within the Armed Forces, improving troop morale, and fostering stronger inter-agency collaboration in national security operations.
