Egbetokun Decorates Promoted Senior Officers at Splendid Ceremony in Abuja

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Tuesday decorated newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force in a grand ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, the ceremony symbolized the IGP’s unwavering commitment to recognizing excellence, hard work, and professionalism within the Force.

A total of 923 officers were elevated after a rigorous and transparent promotion process conducted by the Police Service Commission, which included both written examinations and interviews. During the event, one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) was promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General (DIG), four Commissioners of Police (CPs) were elevated to AIGs, and eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to substantive Commissioners.

Among those decorated were DIG Mohammed Dankwara; AIGs Denimen Abibo, Umar Madaki, Nkechi Eze, and Garba Nzukwen; and CPs Naziru Kankarofi, Nendel Gomwalk, Tijani Fatai, Aniefok Akpan, and Moorkwap Dongshal, among others.

The ceremony was graced by eminent personalities, including Senator Simon Lalong, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, former Zamfara Governor Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari, Senator Tony Nwoye, Senator Iya Abbas, and Senator Ede Dafinone. Others present were the Minister of State for Regional Development, FCT, Hon. Alhaji Ahmadu; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda; and Alhaji (Chief) Dr. Abdul-Raheem Oladimeji, OFR, founder of Al-Hikmah University.

In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to demonstrate integrity, fairness, and professionalism in their leadership roles. He emphasized the importance of community-oriented and intelligence-driven policing to tackle emerging security challenges.

The IGP further reminded the officers to remain exemplary figures within the Force, uphold justice, and innovate in their approaches to crime prevention and law enforcement.
