Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, has officially switched his allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He announced this transition on Friday in Uyo, the capital of the state.
The governor indicated that this decision came after “three months of extensive consultations” with key stakeholders throughout the state. Eno expressed appreciation to the PDP for their support during his time in office, mentioning that it was time for him to pursue a more progressive path.
He also highlighted his admiration for President Bola Tinubu and emphasized the importance of Akwa Ibom State aligning with the federal government to benefit from ongoing support. Eno reassured the people of Akwa Ibom that he would continue to work diligently for their welfare, irrespective of his party change. He stated, “After completing my rounds of consultation as your elected servant, I have decided to move forward with the APC.”
