The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially hired a private firm, Tunmef Global Limited, to initiate a nationwide digital membership registration campaign, aiming to create a complete and current database of its members in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

The contract signing took place at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday evening, attended by key figures including Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, along with his counterparts from Cross Rivers and Kogi States, Bassey Otu and Usman Ododo respectively, as well as APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and other National Working Committee members and state chairpersons.

Uzodimma highlighted the initiative’s importance in showcasing the ruling party’s dedication to utilizing technology to improve its internal operations and maintain its status as a prominent political entity in Nigeria. He thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting this digital approach, emphasizing the global shift towards digital economies and politics. Uzodimma stressed the need for a reliable membership register to ensure accountability and voter turnout based on party ideology, while encouraging the consultant to execute the project promptly despite any opposition.

Ganduje expressed similar sentiments, acknowledging Tinubu’s backing of the digital transformation initiative, which he noted had been in the making for a long time. He commended the APC for funding the project and underlined the significance of accurate data for planning and establishing the party’s extensive following. Ganduje pointed out that this digital registration would provide verifiable data, which could be crucial in legal disputes.

According to the APC National Legal Adviser, Prof. AbdulKareem Kana, the e-registration will link members’ registration numbers with their National Identity Numbers, allowing for immediate access to detailed member information from any location. He mentioned that the proposal was approved by the governors and President Tinubu, following a careful selection process that appointed Tunmef Global Limited for its expertise and capacity, and he expressed gratitude to the party’s chairman and the governors for their commitment to the project.
