The much-anticipated Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool, set for Saturday, December 7, at 12:30 GMT, has been postponed due to severe weather conditions brought on by Storm Darragh.

The announcement appeared in a statement on the club’s website, titled, “Everton v Liverpool postponed because of bad weather.”

An emergency meeting of the Safety Advisory Group took place this morning at Goodison Park, involving representatives from both clubs, Merseyside Police, and Liverpool City Council, who determined that the match was unsafe due to strong wind gusts and an amber wind warning in effect until 6:00 GMT on Sunday.

To ensure the safety of fans, players, and staff, the match was canceled, especially as high winds overnight led to significant travel disruptions in the region.

In their statement, Everton expressed their regret over the postponement, stating, “We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate the understanding of our supporters.

“While we recognize how disappointing this is for fans, the safety of everyone involved is our top priority.

“We will announce information regarding a rescheduled date soon. All tickets purchased for the original match will remain valid for the new date.”
