The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has ordered the detention of former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello and his two co-defendants in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Maryanne Anenih issued this directive on Wednesday, stating that they should remain with the EFCC until December 10, when she intends to decide on the bail applications submitted by Bello and his co-defendants. Previously, Bello was arraigned alongside Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu on 16 counts brought against them by the EFCC.

All three pleaded not guilty to the charges, after which the judge listened to arguments from the lawyers regarding the defendants’ bail requests. The EFCC has accused them of a criminal breach of trust involving N110.4 billion.
