JUST IN: At last, Port Harcourt refinery commence production

The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced that the Port Harcourt Refinery in Rivers State has started processing crude oil.

Femi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the company, shared this update on Tuesday.

He stated that the refinery will operate at 60 percent capacity, processing 60,000 barrels per day. “Today marks a significant milestone for Nigeria as the Port Harcourt Refinery officially begins crude oil processing. This achievement marks the start of a new chapter in our energy independence and economic development,” Soneye remarked.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and the exceptional leadership of GCEO Mele Kyari for their steadfast dedication to this transformative initiative. “Together, we are transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape!”

Soneye also mentioned that truck loading is set to begin on the same day and added that NNPCL is working diligently to restore the Warri Refinery soon.
