Lucky Ayedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress candidate and Governor of Ondo State, is currently leading in 13 local government areas following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s announcement of results from Saturday’s governorship election.
The State Returning Officer, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja in Kogi State, commenced the state collation process around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday.
In the declared results from the 13 local government areas, Ayedatiwa emerged victorious in all of them, including Idanre Local Government, the hometown of Mr. Festus Akingbaso, the running mate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In Ifedore Local Government, the APC secured 14,157 votes to the PDP’s 5,897. In Ondo East, the APC received 8,163 votes, while the PDP garnered 2,843. The results continued as follows: In Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo, APC received 16,600 votes against PDP’s 4,442, and in Idanre, the APC had 9,114 votes compared to 8,940 for the PDP.
However, there were allegations from a PDP representative in Idanre that voting did not occur in Ofosun Oniseri and reported an incident of ballot snatching at Alade, calling for the exclusion of those votes from the overall count in the LG.
In Irele Local Government, APC accumulated 17,117 votes, with PDP trailing at 6,601. In Akoko South West, the APC achieved 29,700 votes compared to the PDP’s 5,517. Owo Local Government results showed the APC with 31,914 votes while the PDP attained 4,740. In Ondo West, the APC received 20,755 votes against the PDP’s 6,387.
In Akoko South East, the APC received 12,140 votes, while the PDP had 2,692. In Akoko North West, the APC won with 25,010 votes to the PDP’s 5,502. The APC also led in Ose LG with 16,555 votes, while the PDP obtained 4,472. In Akure South, the APC garnered 32,969 votes compared to the PDP’s 17,926. In Akoko North East, the APC took 25,657 votes against the PDP’s 5,072.
After announcing the results of the 13th local government, Akinwumi stated that the collation would resume at 5 a.m. for the final results from the last five local government areas.
