Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court in Abuja decided to let former senator Dino Melaye go free from the charges brought against him by the Federal Government.
The whole legal fight started six years ago. This news was shared on X and obtained by Tunexreportes. Melaye mentioned that Justice Oriji dismissed two charges against him for giving false information about a supposed assassination attempt on his life in 2017. The case was delayed due to the unexpected death of Justice Aromeh Akogu, the judge in charge of the case, during a cross-over service on December 31, 2017. The Attorney General’s Office officially accused Melaye on January 31, 2018, stating that his claims were baseless after investigating the alleged assassination attempt in his hometown of Ayetoro-Gbede, Kogi State.
On March 1, 2018, he said he didn’t do it. Then, in July 2018, Melaye said the police in Kogi State tried to hurt him. He said this because they said his guards shot at policemen during a ‘stop and search’ in Mopa. Once again in March 2019, Melaye said that he believed the Kogi State government was trying to harm him, but the government said this wasn’t true. However,
on Monday, Melaye went on social media platform X to thank his legal team and talk about how he believes in God’s justice, no matter what happens in life. “He always supports fairness,” he said. In his social media post, he also mentioned,
“Justice was delivered after six years. Delayed justice is still justice.” God deserves all the praise. Senator Dino Melaye has won 12 cases against the Federal Government and the Inspector General of Police. All 12 cases were won through the grace of God.
