MODEN RESPONSE TEAM
The incessant protests by different groups under the PDP, has become an approach adopted by the party in a bid to further cast aspersions on the recently concluded elections in Edo state, where its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, lost by a wide margin to the A.P.C candidate, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, the Governor-elect of Edo state.
A foremost pattern, is the use of women by the party, all clad in black attires to protest along Airport Road and marching through major routes in the city centre. This has become almost like a daily affair, which has drawn attention from several quarters.
Reacting to this trend, the Edo State Deputy Governor elect, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, yesterday, during the Edo South victory party of the A.P.C, disclosed that he has it on good authority that P.D.P have directed all Local Government chairmen in the State to donate five million naira (#5,000,000) each to sponsor the ongoing protests by women and other groups in the P.D.P.
The Deputy Governor elect, openly expressed concerns as to why money that should have been used for the development of communities in the Local Governments are being misappropriated for gain less initiatives like protest which provide no benefit to the people of Edo state.
He also used the opportunity to remind the Local Government chairmen in Edo state, that judgement day is coming where they would be called to give account of every penny spent from coffers of the Local Government after the expiration of Obaseki’s tenure in Edo state, by November 12th.
Hon. Dennis Idahosa also urged the protesting women he described as innocent but are only being used to ask Obaseki and Asue why their wives are not allowed to wear black clothes and also join the protest. In a follow up the Deputy Governor warned that anybody planning evil in the land, will face the wrath of Holy Ghost fire!
