The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, Hon. Dr. Pius Idele Alile, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, CFR, former Inspector General of Police and immediate past Chairman of the Police Service Commission.
Hon. Alile described the late Arase as “a man of honour, humility, and uncommon dedication to public service whose contributions to national security and human capital development will never be forgotten.”
Dr. Arase, who served as Chairman of the Police Service Commission from January 2023 to June 2024, was widely respected for his reforms aimed at entrenching merit, professionalism, and transparency in the Nigeria Police Force. His leadership brought renewed confidence to the system, setting standards that will guide generations to come.
Beyond his public service, the late IGP distinguished himself as a philanthropist and humanitarian. Through the Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation, he sponsored countless indigent students in fields such as medicine, engineering, security studies, and other critical professions. His vision was clear—empower the youth, strengthen society, and build a legacy of knowledge and service.
In his condolence message, Hon. Alile noted:
“Dr. Arase lived a life of selflessness, compassion, and leadership. He was not only a consummate professional in the security sector but also a benefactor whose benevolence touched many lives. His death is a painful loss to Edo State, to Nigeria, and to all who had the privilege of knowing him. I pray that God Almighty grants his family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss, and may He grant the departed eternal rest.”
Hon. Alile urged the late statesman’s family, friends, and colleagues to take solace in the enduring impact of his service and philanthropy, which will continue to speak long after his passing.
Dr. Solomon Arase will be remembered not only as a foremost police officer but as a visionary leader, humanitarian, and patriot.
