Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared his readiness to support leaders and communities that align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging residents to “stand with those the government will listen to.”
Wike made the remark on Thursday during the flag-off of Lot 2 of the Water Supply Project in Karu, where he commended former FCT Senator, Philip Aduda, and Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, for their contributions to community development.
He pledged the construction of a 2km road in Karu site at Aduda’s request, stressing that his administration will continue to support leaders who show loyalty to Tinubu’s government and deliver results to the people.
According to the minister, Maikalangu has used his office to attract projects such as the Saburi Road, Kabusa-Takushere Road, and Deidei Road, adding that his government would continue to honour his requests if re-elected as council chairman.
“Support those who have the capacity to bring development to the people. Support those the government will listen to,” Wike said, adding, “Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him.”
He also took a swipe at past administrations, accusing them of neglecting Karu communities, particularly in the area of water supply. Wike noted that Tinubu’s government has now delivered potable water, fulfilling a key promise to satellite towns.
“Agreement is agreement. The people of Karu will remember the government that remembered them, not those who abandoned them,” he stressed.
Aduda, a former senator under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), represented the FCT between 2011 and 2023 before losing his seat in the last general elections.
