Two months after dismissing the Governing Council of the University of Abuja, President Bola Tinubu has appointed a new council for the institution, as well as for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

In February, Tinubu had disbanded the Governing Council of the University of Abuja and removed its vice-chancellor, Aisha Maikudi, amid questions regarding her qualifications.

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced this update in a statement on Tuesday titled “President Tinubu appoints new governing council members for three federal universities.”

The newly appointed governing council members for UNIABUJA include Prof. Rosemary Egonmwan (South South), Dr. Adedeji Adefuye (South West), Prof. Sarki Abdulkadir (North West), and Prof. Aminu Dukku (North East).

Additionally, Tinubu filled positions in the governing councils for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

The appointees for UNN are Ogbonna Odo (South East) and Muhammad Tahir (North West).

New governing council members for NAU consist of Dr. Nkem Okeke (South East), Ofoke Ugbala (South East), Dame Yakowa (North West), and Nojeeb Agunbiade (South West).
