Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara has called for a meeting with the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, along with other lawmakers, to be held at Government House in Port Harcourt.
This invitation, coming from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, marks Fubara’s first official acknowledgment of Amaewhule as the Assembly’s Speaker.
Dated March 7, the invitation refers to a letter from March 5 in which the governor confirmed he had received the Supreme Court’s ruling.
The invitation states, “And he has, therefore, directed to invite you and your colleagues, the Honourable members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, to a meeting.”
The meeting will cover topics such as arranging appropriate facilities for Assembly sessions, addressing pending payments and allowances, presenting the budget, and tackling other important state issues.
Lawmakers are asked to convene with the governor on Monday, March 10, at 10 a.m.
