On Monday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar led a delegation to visit his former boss, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Accompanying Atiku were former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke and ex-Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Tambuwal.
While the specific purpose of the meeting was not disclosed at the time of reporting, it coincides with discussions among opposition leaders aimed at developing strategies to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and secure victory in the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku served as Obasanjo’s deputy from May 1999 to May 2007. In the 2023 election, Atiku was the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), finishing as runner-up to President Bola Tinubu of the APC. At 78, Atiku has been pursuing the presidency in Nigeria for nearly thirty years.
