Ned Nwoko, the lawmaker for Delta North Senatorial District, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal divisions within the party.
His resignation, communicated in a letter to the Chairman of Aniocha North LGA on January 30, indicates that ongoing conflicts within the PDP have hindered his ability to fulfill promises made to his constituents.
Nwoko expressed that the current party structure in the state is not conducive to achieving these commitments. He stated, “After careful consideration, I have concluded that it is necessary to part ways with the party to meet my obligations to my people.” Despite leaving the PDP, he assured party members and constituents of his continued commitment to effective leadership, unity, and progress for Delta North.
He emphasized that his decision was made with his constituents’ best interests in mind. The PDP has been facing a leadership crisis, with both Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye claiming the position of national secretary. Tensions escalated recently, as a violent altercation occurred during a board of trustees meeting at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.
