It is with great pleasure and excitement I congratulate you my brother, friend, and erudite Professor of Law, Professor Edoba Omoregie (SAN), on your well-deserved appointment as the Vice Chancellor Elect of the prestigious University of Benin.
Although the announcement of your great elevation came as a surprise, your choice for the office is, however, not surprising given that you are not only eminently qualified by official parameters but that you possess the distinctive quality to propel the illustrious institution to the next level of development.
This appointment by the Governing Council of the University is an apt acknowledgement of your brilliance, administrative capacity and vision. There is no overstating the fact that the Governing Council has got it right one hundred percent by putting a round peg in a round hole. They indeed scored a bull’s eye on this one.
It is pertinent to say that your history with the school, replete with individual and collective achievements, underscores the relevance of your appointment to the progress of the University of Benin. You know the school inside out, a factor which gives you an advantage to tackling the challenges confronting it and bringing fulfilment to both staff, students and the University’s Governing Council.
Knowing you as well as I do, I have no doubt in your ability to perform beyond the expectation of those who may be in doubt, and to the overwhelming satisfaction of those who trust in you. Now that you have the opportunity to prove yourself as a development advocate and tactician, I am of the firm belief that you will bring your enthusiasm, vision and experience to bear in the execution of your responsibilities.
