The team in charge of selling crude oil and refined products from the government has shared that the first load of petrol from the Dangote Refinery will start on Sunday, September 15.
Zacch Adedeji, who is a member of the team and also the head of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), talked about this in Abuja on Friday. He told reporters that starting October 1, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) will begin providing around 385kbpd of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery, which will be paid for in Naira.
“I am happy to share that we have finished all the agreements and will start loading the first batch of PMS from the Dangote Refinery on Sunday, September 15th,” Adedeji said. He added that the refinery will supply PMS and diesel to the local market in exchange for payment in Naira. The committee decided that the Dangote Refinery can sell Diesel in Naira to anyone who wants it, but only NNPC can buy PMS. Starting October 1st, NNPC will give the Dangote Refinery around 385kbpd of crude oil, and the refinery will pay in Naira. In exchange, the refinery will sell PMS and diesel worth the same amount to the local market, and they will also get paid in Naira.
The Dangote Refinery will sell diesel in Naira to anyone who wants to buy it. PMS will be sold to NNPC first, and then NNPC will sell it to different marketers. All the costs for following regulations will also be paid in Naira.
