Peter Obi is like Nigeria’s version of Donald Trump.The Presidency compared Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, to Donald Trump, the former US President and Republican candidate for the 2024 election.
Temitope Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, made this comparison in a post on social media platform X on Wednesday. This comparison was made after the US presidential debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the Democratic candidate. Peter Obi is like the Nigerian Donald Trump. Just like Obi, Trump will say really mean things about a country he wants to run again to get attention and excite his supporters. Harris and Trump argued about a lot of things during the debate, like abortion and immigration, trying to win over voters in a close race. Ajayi said, “Kamala Harris did a great job of arguing against Trump in their first debate last night. Kamala clearly won the debate and showed everyone her skills.” Vice President Harris understood Trump’s weaknesses and planned ahead to catch him off guard. Trump was tricked by her traps.
Experts checked both candidates’ statements during the debate. Harris was found to have only made one mistake, while Trump made 33 false statements in just 90 minutes. Reports from the media showed that when Harris said things to upset him, Trump would often talk about conspiracy theories and say untrue things about the 2020 election and immigration. Even though the moderators checked the facts during debates, the ex-president kept saying his controversial ideas. One of them was that immigrants were eating the pets of Americans in Springfield. He said, “They’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats, they’re eating the pets of the people who live there.” “This is what’s going on in our country,” Trump stated, going against what the Springfield city manager said about the accusations having no factual basis.
