Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), disclosed yesterday that he encountered potential backlash from certain individuals in Nigeria after he encouraged citizens to pray for divine help against influential groups allegedly attempting to obstruct the progress of private refineries in the country.
He made these statements during the ongoing annual Holy Ghost Congress, entitled Onward Christian Soldiers, taking place at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Though Pastor Adeboye did not specify who he was referring to, he mentioned an earlier comment he made during the church’s annual Abuja Special Holy Ghost Service, which nearly led to trouble for him.
He remarked, “I shared something during the Abuja Holy Ghost Service that I won’t repeat because it almost got me in trouble for speaking the truth. Events in Nigeria make one wonder if we are under a curse. There are countries with fewer resources than we have, yet they seem to thrive better than us. But I’ll leave that aside.”
Additionally, Pastor Adeboye expressed his dissatisfaction over the substantial funds wasted on repairing the country’s four state-owned refineries, which continue to operate poorly.
Addressing the significance of divine light for individuals, families, communities, and nations, Adeboye proclaimed:
“I declare tonight, in the name above all names, that our nations will shine with light.”
He urged believers to develop a sincere relationship with God, noting that this connection would eliminate all forms of emptiness, turmoil, and hardships in their lives.
He elaborated, “The strength of a soldier hinges on who supports him. If you remain close to your Commander-in-Chief, you will end up reflecting Him. The first recorded words of our Commander-in-Chief were, ‘Let there be light,’ and light appeared.”
He further explained the power behind God’s voice: “When He spoke, it was not a murmur; it was a clear command. He called Lazarus from the grave with a loud voice (John 11:39-44).
“A loud sound often precedes significant events like earthquakes or the takeoff of an airplane. Before God commanded light into existence, there were conditions such as formlessness and emptiness on the earth, with ‘without form’ signifying confusion. Wherever darkness resides, confusion is sure to follow.”
