PDP PROBLEM IS TINUBU, HAS NO BUSINESS APPOINTING WIKE MINISTER SAYS SGEUN SOWUNMI

by Tunexreporters

Segun Sowunmi, a chieftain Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, declared on Wednesday that President Bola Tinubu is the root of his party’s challenges. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, monitored by Tunexreportes, Sowunmi criticized the appointment of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, asserting that Tinubu shouldn’t have appointed a member from the PDP without consulting the party.

When asked about the PDP’s main issue, he stated, “People might point to Wike, but I would rather highlight President Bola Tinubu.” He further emphasized that Tinubu’s actions in taking Wike from the PDP into his cabinet were unwarranted.

Sowunmi recalled how former President Olusegun Obasanjo consulted party elders when forming a government of national unity. He suggested that if Tinubu truly wanted to mend relations with the PDP, he should return Wike to the opposition party.

Despite the ongoing turmoil within the party, Sowunmi remains optimistic that the PDP can overcome its difficulties and regain its influence. He affirmed that the party is neither dead nor in decline but is undergoing challenges related to democratic processes. “We haven’t reached a point where we can claim to have new leadership,” he noted. He also highlighted complications arising from Wike’s dual role as an APC minister while still being part of the PDP, emphasizing that these issues need to be addressed.
