First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged Nigerian women to come together and support fellow women aspiring for elected positions. Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women National Summit and Dialogue in Abuja, themed ‘Empowering APC Women for Leadership and Nation Building,’ she emphasized that women should not impose self-limiting beliefs.
In a statement shared by her Senior Special Adviser on Media, Busola Kukoyi, she said, “As women leaders during this crucial period of nation-building, we each possess the ability to make a difference in our respective areas of influence. Let’s refrain from setting imaginary limits and concentrate on our capabilities by persevering, supporting one another, and working hard. Together, we can shape the future, one woman at a time.”
Mrs. Tinubu also encouraged the National Woman Leader of the Party to collaborate with other APC State Women Leaders to advocate for legislation that increases women’s representation in the National Assembly. She noted, “The upcoming election is crucial for Nigerian women. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda strongly focuses on creating opportunities for women to succeed.”
She highlighted the progress made in women’s representation in significant roles within the party and government as a testament to the resilience and determination of women, encouraging continued unity and effort. Additionally, Mrs. Tinubu spoke on the essential qualities of good leadership for women, including integrity, hard work, and compassion, stating, “A true leader admits mistakes. In office, look out for your fellow women, as our successes and failures are interconnected.”

The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, praised President Tinubu for his ongoing commitment to gender equality. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Vice President’s wife, the First Lady of The Gambia, National Assembly members, State First Ladies, Deputy Governors, APC women leaders nationwide, and members of the diplomatic community.
