It was a convivial atmosphere in Benin City, the Edo State capital, as the APC National Woman Leader, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Alile, stormed the city with her empowerment initiative, Project 774 Explode. The project is designed to encourage young women to actively participate in politics, governance, and decision-making processes across Nigeria.
The event, which attracted a large crowd of enthusiastic participants, featured a range of empowerment activities aimed at promoting self-reliance and inclusion. Beneficiaries of the programme received certificates of participation and various empowerment packages, including cash awards, sewing machines, modern stoves, branding machines, and assorted food items.
In addition, there was a free medical outreach that offered health check-ups, diagnoses, medications, recommended eyeglasses, and health cards to participants — reflecting the project’s holistic approach to empowerment and wellbeing.
The high point of the occasion was the formal presentation of empowerment items to the beneficiaries, sparking joy and excitement among the attendees.
In her address, Dr. Mary Alile expressed deep appreciation to all invited guests and partners for their support. She encouraged more women, especially the younger generation, to get involved in political activities and leadership roles. Dr. Alile also emphasized the importance of the ongoing advocacy for the Reserved Seats for Women Bill, which seeks to promote gender balance and equitable representation in governance.
She reaffirmed her commitment to women’s empowerment, noting that the Project 774 Explode would continue to expand its reach across the federation to inspire more women and youths to take charge of their future through active participation and entrepreneurship.
