one of the major challenges of Egor people in Benin city metropolis is flooding especially during raining season both commercial motorists, passengers and pedestrians would normally be seen frustrating during this period.
As a result of this perennial problem,Egor LG boss ,Hon.(Dr) Eguakun I. Kelvin was seen personally supervising the draining of the gutters to direct free flow of erosion control along Ugbowo Lagos road, stating from UBTH, boundary between Ovia North East and Egor local government council.
Caterpillar was seen packing out debris from the gutter of the federal government road along Lagos road,Benin city, into( 4 in 1)Tipper lorry emptying the packed gutter elsewhere .
When some media team interviewed the acting Council Chairman the essence of the exercise, he responded by saying that it was necessary to quickly intervene now that raining season is fast approaching, besides the terrain is always flooding during raining season, hence quick intervention like this will always help to reduce the menace.
Hon.Eguakun asserted that having grown up from the locality he however demonstrated knowing how to tackle some of these challenges facing the Council area promising to respond to some of these challenges facing the area
However, Dr Eguakun reiterated that ,work like this becomes possible because of the encouragement from the amiable hard-working executive Governor of Edo State , Senator Monday Okpebhole who’s always there and ready to support all the council areas like Egor to discharge their duties inline with his developmental strides and policies of developing Edo state.
The commercial bus drivers plying the road were seen physically happy with the Chairman with little girdlock as a result of the work going on the road.
The chairman was not there alone, …he was also seen with his Vice Chairman,Hon.Preston Eghe Amayo, some members of the council Hon.Nosakhare Izegbuwa,Leader of the legislative arm who also expressing his delight for the quick intervention and expressed satisfaction for the level of work done so far by his council .
However,Rt Hon. Stella Ogida,..who’s the majority Leader of the Legislative arm also responded positively with the ways and manners the affairs of the council are being piloted by the acting Council ,Dr Eguakun since he resumes office… expressing optimism for the sustainability of such tempo towards work to make Egor the best performing local government council.
Moreso, when one of the commercial bus drivers who gave his name as mr Osas was asked about the progress of work done so far. Mr Osas expressed joy and gladness by commending the council chairman for a job well on clearing and packing the drainage and gutters before raining season starts which always become a thing of concern for all drivers whether commercially or privates.
