Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has sanctioned the posting and appointment of several senior Nigerian Army officers to different command, staff, and instructional roles.
According to a statement by Army spokesman Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, this redeployment is a strategic effort aimed at improving operational effectiveness and administrative efficiency. The changes affect Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of Army training facilities, Brigade Commanders, and other significant roles. This restructuring highlights the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining a vigorous and adaptable leadership framework capable of addressing new security challenges.
Among the new PSOs at Army Headquarters are Maj Gen LA Fejokwu, who moves from the National Defence College to become Chief of Administration (Army); Maj Gen GU Chibuisi, transitioning from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre to Chief of Civil Military Affairs; and Maj Gen AS Ndalolo, also from the Resource Centre, who is now Chief of Training (Army). Additional appointments include Maj Gen OS Abai, now Chief of Transformation and Innovation, and Maj Gen JH Abdussalam, designated Chief of Special Services and Programmes.
As for the GOCs, Maj Gen OT Olatoye has been appointed GOC at the 82 Division/Commander of JTF Operation UDO KA, and Maj Gen EF Oyinlola is now GOC of 3 Division/Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN. Acting roles for Maj Gen AGL Haruna and Maj Gen IA Ajose have been confirmed in the latest reassignments.
Other notable redeployments include Maj Gen GO Adeshina, appointed as Director General at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, and Maj Gen GM Mutkut, now the Force Commander at the Multinational Joint Task Force. Maj Gen MC Kangye has moved to Defence Headquarters as the Director of Media Operations.
New Corps Commanders include Maj Gen OC Ajunwa, Maj Gen HT Wesley, and Maj Gen TT Numbere, among others, with several senior officers also appointed to commandant positions across various training institutions.
The Chief of Army Staff urged all newly appointed officers to approach their roles with renewed energy and commitment, particularly regarding the ongoing fight against terrorism and maintaining troop welfare as a top priority in their new assignments.
