RUFAI OSENI’S BLATANT PARTISANSHIP AND CONSISTENT ABANDONMENT OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT IN ARISE TV.
We are compelled to express grave concern regarding Rufai Oseni’s continued unprofessional conduct in Arise Tv. The way and manner he recently invited the Edo State APC Gubernatorial candidate, the Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo for interview as posted on his official X handle (formerly known as Twitter) was done in blatant display of arrogance, bias and partiality and this raises serious questions about his integrity and impartiality as a journalist.
Rufai Oseni’s invitation to the APC candidate was marred by a lack of decorum and respect for ethical journalism standards. The tone of the said invitation is that of an interested party rather than a professional journalist. His arrogant and bully approach was more akin to a political campaign support than a professional interview. This unprofessional conduct has the potential to undermine the credibility of ARISE TV and compromise its reputation for fairness and balance.
In light of this incident, we urge ARISE TV to conduct a thorough investigation into Rufai Oseni’s actions and determine whether his behaviour aligns with the Station’s code of ethics. It is essential to ensure that journalists maintain the highest standards of professionalism and avoid taking sides with politicians.
Rufai Oseni’s actions risk compromising ARISE TV’s independence and impartiality. If left unchecked, this behaviour may lead to a loss of public trust and damage the Station’s reputation. We caution ARISE TV to take immediate action to address this situation and prevent any further incident that could tarnish its image.
We appeal to ARISE TV to uphold the principles of ethical journalism and ensure that its journalists maintain the highest standards of professionalism. The Station must protect its integrity and reputation by taking swift action against any behavior that compromises its values.
By investigating Rufai Oseni’s conduct and addressing this incident, ARISE TV can reaffirm its commitment to fairness, balance, and journalistic excellence.
Finally, we wish to appeal to the broadcasting organization of Nigeria (BON) to review Rufai Oseni’s official conducts and also ask Rufai Oseni to show cause why his financial and political involvement should not be investigated since he has descended into the political arena thereby making his judgement to be biased and unprofessional in his journalistic conduct.
