The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has applauded the Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Dr. Kelvin Eguakun, for his exemplary leadership and determination to public health and environmental sanitation.
Speaking during the Edo State Primary Healthcare (PHC) Task Force stakeholders’ meeting, Rt. Hon. Idahosa highlighted Dr. Eguakun’s proactive efforts in promoting a cleaner, healthier Egor, noting that his administration’s focus on grassroots healthcare delivery and community hygiene sets a model for other local governments across the state.
The Deputy Governor particularly commended the council boss for aligning local initiatives with the state’s broader strategy to combat outbreaks such as diphtheria and other preventable diseases. He emphasized that Dr. Eguakun’s leadership has helped foster improved access to primary healthcare services and raised awareness on the importance of personal and environmental hygiene.
“As we work collectively to tackle the current health challenges, it is important to recognize and encourage leaders who are walking the talk. Dr. Eguakun is one such leader whose actions have directly impacted the wellbeing of his people,” Rt. Hon. Idahosa stated.
The meeting, which brought together key stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, WHO, local governments, religious groups, and civil society, focused on enhancing disease prevention, vaccination outreach, and health system resilience at the community level.
