During a visit to the Benin revered monarch, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, on Thursday, to celebrate the judgment of the tribunal, which upheld the victory of Sen. Monday Okpebholo as governor of Edo state, the Benin Royal father declared that Sen. Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State, was sent by the ancestors to restore Edo’s lost glory.
This statement, which are not mere words, but words of wisdom, from the revered monarch, aptly captions the emergence of Sen. Monday Okpebholo and his period in office so far, which has reflected an absolute breath of fresh air from the toxic environment, that was created during the past eight years of the previous administration, marked by callous acts of settling personal vendetta, vindictiveness and executive rascality.
All the strange and unusual attributes exhibited during the past administration, the Okpebholo administration has helped to gradually curb from an Edo state, where consultants were used to hijack the system, creating a pattern of self enrichment, for foreign cronies of the past administration, while Edo people helplessly watched being schemed out in the order of things and were subjected to the dictatorship of very overbearing consultants, whose presence crippled many sectors for Obaseki gains, this the present administration has helped to free Edo from.
Sen. Monday Okpebholo, also declared a state of Emergency on Education, in the state owing to the poor infrastructure bedevilling public schools. This he has done to urgently address the worrisome and eyesore environment most public school students and pupils were made to learn, in a state where the previous administration made huge budgets for Education, year after year, with nothing to write home about and also received huge World Bank funding for a so called “Edo Best” program which has turned out to be one of the greatest from of deceit carried out against humanity.
This administration, has also done well, in acknowledging the role of collaborative efforts between government and traditional institutions in the state, which saw to the laying down of all the fighting the infamous Obaseki administration, was involved with against the Palace, over the custody of artifacts, erecting of a royal museum and on other traditional matters where the previous administration went ahead and openly sought to factionalise the Benin Traditional Council, to suit their own selfish interest.
Without mincing words, Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s administration, did not only come about by the making of the ancestors, but can be equally described as a divine intervention by God, who has heard and listened to the cries of Edo people for eight years under Obaseki, whose administration, lacked anything close to a human face.
For the first time in eight years, Edo can boast of having a governor, who is not petty and pedestrian to the extent of demolishing private homes and business properties of individuals simply because their political views differs from the government of the day. Rather, Edo has a matured man for a governor whose priority has been centred on building and fostering development of the state across lines irrespective of political, tribal or religious affiliations.
In summary, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, has touched every part of Edo State rightly and adequately within just a space of four months as visible evidences of transformation can already be seen in many sectors of Edo state, justifying the position of the Benin monarch, that Sen. Monday Okpebholo is here to restore the lost glory of the state. With this impressive manner the administration has commenced its tenure, the people are rest assured of making progress and success under this purposeful leadership that has gone extra mile to unite a state once divided on so many fronts and has done well in rebuilding bridges burnt down by ego, pride and arrogance of Godwin Obaseki, which undermined the development of our dear state.
