Nicholas Ukachukwu has been selected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Anambra State and will represent the party in the governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

The results, announced by Senator Bassey Otu, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee and Governor of Cross River State, revealed a decisive victory for Ukachukwu in the primary election held over the weekend. He received 1,455 votes, surpassing his nearest competitor, Valentine Ozigbo, who garnered 67 votes. Johnbosco Onunkwo received 26 votes, and Edozie Madu secured eight votes, with 26 invalid votes cast.

In his acceptance address, Ukachukwu expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for facilitating a smooth and transparent election process. He also praised the APC National Working Committee, Otu and his team, as well as his fellow candidates and delegates for their contributions to the successful primary.

Ukachukwu urged his opponents to come together and support his candidacy, emphasizing the need to unite for the benefit of the APC in Anambra. He highlighted his influential role in the state’s political landscape, stating that he has been a key player in the rise of various governors but is now ready to take on the leadership role himself.

He reassured party members and the citizens of Anambra of his commitment to their trust, promising not to let them down as he prepares to contest against the current administration led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

With this nomination, Ukachukwu is poised to face off against Governor Soludo of the APGA and George Moughalu from the Labour Party.
