Today is globally remembered as World Cancer Day set aside by World Health Organization to create an awareness and sensitize the people about this dangerous pandemic.
Cancer is one of the world epidermic and declared pandemics that have killed millions of people around the world, scientists, World Health Organization (WHO), Research Institutes, pharmaceutical companies have all been engaging in one research or the other to invent, discover and innovate drugs that’s capable of carrying out cures for different types of cancerous ailments.
The NGO of the foundation, Oke-Creative Future Foundation Surv Okeoghene in conjunction with Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Nigeria Cancer Council of Nigeria (NCCN), Oncologists, rolled out drums to create an awareness campaign with the rest of the world counterparts to sensitize, fight and how to eradicate it.
The CEO of the foundation SURV…L.Okeoghene who unveiled three cardinal areas for the campaign awareness is based on, he pinpointed Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer and Prostrate Cancer awareness with the WHO seen as a dangerous pandemic. now common amongst young men and women in our society.
The CEO came with his teams,partners, EDSMA, ESSN,Police UBTH medical staff and other medical personnel visited Egor local government council after walking along from UBTH to the council at Uselu.
The Acting Chairman of the Council,Hon.(Dr)Eguakun Ighodaro Kelvin who was happy to received the CANCER Awareness campaign in his council Secretariat, Uselu,Benin City.
Hon.Eguakun who was very elated to receive a foundation like this on medical outreach. according to him was very thanksful to the organisers. The CEO of the foundation,Doctors, Nurses, Medical students from UBTH and greatful to God and all the stakeholders especially Nigeria Cancer Association (NCA). Edo state Chapter and others who partners with him to make the programme a success.
The Acting Chairman remarked that ,having just prepare to kickstart Egor Referral Medical centre to run 24hours medical operation in the council area, here comes an NGO campaign awareness on Cancer inline with his primary Health Care policy for the council area
Hon. Eguakun had promised to give a massive support and offers the Egor Referral Medical Centre for the Foundation for screening of potential patients, he also demonstrated that by promise to contact. Man Around Town Television Programme for it’s publicity.
He however seek collaborative efforts, support and synergy from other critical stakeholders to move this outreach forward, as he seize the opportunity to pray for God’s blessings, good health and ability to live a good hygienic lives.
The medical personnel from UBTH that came alongside the Foundation were Dr Omorodion Irowa, Head of Surgery Department, UBTH, Dr Oboh Evariatus, Consultant Radiation and Clinical Oncologist, UBTH, alongside other HODs and Principal Medical Personnel all from UBTH.
The Foundation Director however poured out encomiums on the acting Chairman for his sterling leadership quality and performances within a short period of his resumption in the Office.
The Chairman however admonished people to be conscious of their health status and always seek the need to take advantage like this to check their health status, since the saying that health is wealth”
