PDP Crisis: Anyanwu and Ude-Okoye Attend BoT Meeting

by Tunexreporters

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including party National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu and former Youth Leader Sunday Ude-Okoye, are present at the Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting.

The meeting commenced at 12:05 p.m. in Abuja, led by BoT Chairman and former Senate President Adolphus Wabara. Anyanwu arrived early, while Ude-Okoye joined at 12:10 p.m. The atmosphere is charged as the meeting quickly transitioned to a closed-door session.

The PDP is grappling with a leadership crisis, intensified by disputes regarding the National Secretary position. In 2023, Ude-Okoye was nominated by the South East zone of the PDP to succeed Anyanwu after he was selected as the party’s candidate for the Imo State governorship election. The South East PDP argued that Anyanwu should step down from his role due to this nomination, generating further disputes.

On December 20, 2024, the Appeal Court in Enugu confirmed Ude-Okoye’s position as National Secretary, with formal communication to party leaders happening on December 24. However, just last week, the Court of Appeal in Abuja issued a restraining order instructing Anyanwu to continue as National Secretary until the Supreme Court hears the appeal.
