With overwhelming happiness I congratulate you our inimitable, dedicated and visionary Leader; defender of the vulnerable, promoter of the committed, and passionate patriot, Your Excellency, Senator Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, on your well-deserved award as the Senator of the Year at the THISDAY 30th Anniversary Awards.
This recognition and honour is, indeed, a genuine attestation to your superlative performance in and out of the hallowed chambers of the Senate in the period of assessment. There is no gainsaying that your contributions have been most vintage, stimulating and inspiring. And you have thus, been the point of reference in terms of intelligence, diligence, courage and empathy.
Great Leader, that you are this acclaimed in less than two years as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria does not come as a surprise. You have always been an excellent and award winning performer in whatever office of public trust that you have held. Your laurel laden legend as President of the Nigerian Labour Congress and two-term Governor of Edo State remains evergreen in the hearts of your people in particular, and Nigerians in general. No wonder you virtually sailed seamlessly to victory when you indicated interest in becoming the voice of your people at the Senate after your sterling exploit as the Governor of the Heartbeat State.
In this brief period that you have been at the Senate, you have not only justified the confidence that your constituents reposed in you, you have indeed stood out as a voice and a presence for all Nigerians, and in some moments, taking the risk of being a lone voice in the wilderness.
At this auspicious time of your glorious recognition, it is with exceeding pride and joy that I join your countless political children, followers and admirers to celebrate you and the exceptional quality of your representation. I celebrate your unwavering commitment to the growth and development of Nigeria, that has apparently been the foundation of your legislative performance.
And as you continue to be an inspiring icon and the guiding light for millions of Nigerians, I pray that you be in excellent health always and abide in grace for greater recognition and honour.
