President Bola Tinubu on Sunday held an extended high-level security meeting with the nation’s Service Chiefs at the State House in Abuja.
The closed-door session, which was still underway at press time, brought together the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke; the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Ajayi.
The meeting followed Tinubu’s renewed pledge to confront Nigeria’s security challenges head-on, insisting that his administration would not ease its efforts until safety was fully restored nationwide.
Earlier, the President announced the successful rescue of 38 abducted worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State, and 51 students kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State. He also disclosed that he had shelved his scheduled trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa in order to directly oversee the country’s security operations.
