by Tunexreporters

The Kebbi State Government has ordered the immediate shutdown of all public and private secondary schools, as well as all tertiary institutions across the state, with the exception of the College of Nursing Sciences in Birnin Kebbi.

The directive was announced in a joint statement issued on Sunday by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Issa Abubakar-Tunga, and the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Bande.

According to the statement, the decision to close the institutions was prompted by recent security incidents reported in parts of the state.

The affected tertiary institutions include the State Polytechnic, Dakingari; Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero; College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega; and the College of Education, Argungu.

The commissioners clarified that the College of Nursing Sciences and Midwifery in Birnin Kebbi is the only institution exempted from the closure.

They urged all school managements to comply with the directive and assured the public that a new resumption date will be announced when appropriate.
