Deputy Chief of Staff to the Edo State Government, *Hon. Pius Alile, has lauded the administration of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa as they mark their first anniversary in office, describing their leadership as transformative, courageous, and people-centered.
Hon. Alile noted that within just one year, the Okpebholo–Idahosa administration has rekindled hope in governance through a deliberate focus on security, infrastructure, education, and the welfare of Edo people.
Curbing the Menace of Cultism
Hon. Alile applauded the Governor for his God-given wisdom in confronting and defeating the age-long menace of cultism in Edo State.
He noted that since the return of democracy in 1999, successive administrations had battled with the scourge of cult-related killings and youth violence. However, through decisive leadership and the signing of a new Anti-Cultism Law, Senator Okpebholo has not only curtailed the killings but also dismantled the networks and influence of cult groups across the state.
“This singular act has restored peace to our streets and renewed parents’ confidence that their children can once again walk freely without fear,” Alile remarked.
Transforming the Education Sector
Education, according to Hon. Alile, has received unprecedented attention under Governor Okpebholo’s administration.
Thousands of schools—both primary and secondary—have been rebuilt or renovated to international standards, while over 5,000 new teachers have been recruited to address manpower gaps.
In addition, tertiary institutions across Edo State are witnessing major upgrades in facilities and academic infrastructure.
“The Governor understands that education is the bedrock of any thriving society. His actions show a clear vision to prepare Edo’s youth for the challenges of the modern world,” Alile stated.
Massive Infrastructural Renewal”
The administration’s development drive is also visible in its ambitious road and urban renewal projects.
Construction work is ongoing on strategic flyovers at Ramat Park and Adesuwa Junction along Sapele Road, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving mobility.
Several other intra- and inter-community roads across the three senatorial districts are also under reconstruction, opening up rural areas for commerce and development.
Revival of Edo Line Transport Company
Once the pride of the South-South region, the Edo Line Transport Company had been grounded for years due to mismanagement.
Hon. Alile commended Governor Okpebholo for reviving the state-owned transport company, restoring its operations, and expanding its routes to cover major cities across Nigeria.
“This bold move has created new jobs and restored Edo Line’s legacy as a symbol of efficiency and pride for Edo people,” he noted.
Agriculture, Health, and Youth Empowerment
Beyond these achievements, Hon. Alile also highlighted the administration’s focus on agriculture, healthcare delivery, and youth empowerment.
Through renewed investment in agricultural value chains and rural infrastructure, the government is helping farmers access better markets, tools, and incentives.
Healthcare centres are being rehabilitated, and youth empowerment programs are equipping thousands of young people with entrepreneurial and digital skills.
Hon. Pius Alile reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Okpebholo–Idahosa administration, pledging continued loyalty and collaboration to sustain the government’s people-oriented agenda.
“In just one year, the Governor and his Deputy have proven that governance can be transparent, impactful, and truly for the people. Edo State is on a path of renewal, and we must all rally behind this vision,”
