Soludo Secures Landslide Victory, Wins Anambra Governorship for APGA

AWKA – Professor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has been officially declared the winner of the 2025 Anambra State governorship election in a resounding victory.

The Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Edoba Omoregie, announced the results on Sunday at the state headquarters in Awka, confirming that Soludo swept all 21 local government areas.

Soludo polled a massive 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rivals by a wide margin. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, came a distant second with 99,445 votes, while Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) finished third with 37,753 votes.

Election Summary

The election, which took place on Saturday, featured 16 candidates. Out of the state’s 2,788,864 registered voters, a total of 598,229 were accredited for the poll.

The final tally showed that 595,298 votes were cast. Of these, 584,054 were valid, while 11,244 were rejected. Despite minor cancellations in a few wards, the electoral commission stated that the incidents did not impact the final outcome due to the winner’s significant lead.

Announcing the final result, Prof. Omoregie declared, “Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, having scored the highest number of valid votes cast and having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.” He also commended the peaceful conduct of the election.
