The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will on September 29, 2025, administer the oath of office to 57 newly appointed Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs).

According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Festus Akande, the swearing-in forms part of the events scheduled to officially open the 2025/2026 legal year of the apex court.

The statement noted that, in line with tradition, the ceremony will feature a special court session where the CJN will deliver a “State of the Judiciary” address, reviewing the performance of both the Supreme Court and the wider judiciary during the 2024/2025 legal year.

Other key stakeholders in the justice sector, including the Attorney General of the Federation, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), will also deliver goodwill messages and sectoral addresses.

The Supreme Court had proceeded on its annual vacation on July 21, 2025, following what was described as a successful 2024/2025 legal year. The new legal year activities are scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.
