With hearts weighed down by sorrow, the Ogbakha-Edo Indigenous People’s Welfare Foundation joins the Arase family, the great people of Edo State, and indeed the entire Nigerian nation in mourning the passing of Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, CFR, former Inspector General of Police and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, who peacefully transited on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Abuja.
The departure of this illustrious son of the Benin Kingdom is an irreparable loss. Dr. Arase was not merely a consummate professional; he was a man of rare integrity, a visionary leader, and a loving father whose wisdom, humility, and patriotism touched lives across all strata of society.To the Benin Kingdom, he was a beacon of honor—an arrowhead of sociocultural renaissance who constantly projected the values of dignity, discipline, and service.
To Nigeria, he was a chief crime fighter, reformer, and security strategist whose ingenuity and courage helped to strengthen law enforcement institutions, restore public trust, and advance the cause of national security. His legacy of dedication to peace and justice will remain indelible in the annals of our history.
In this period of grief, we urge his family and loved ones to take solace in the fact that Solomon Arase lived a life not just well spent, but legendary—a life that future generations will continue to draw inspiration from. He embodied the noblest ideals of service and sacrifice, leaving behind footprints that no tide of time can wash away.
While we mourn his departure, we also celebrate the triumph of his life—a life of honour, courage, intellect, and fulfilment.
