The Coroner’s Court investigating the death of the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, has concluded that there was no foul play or homicide involved.
Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi shared her findings on Friday at the Magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos, stating that the actions of the auxiliary nurse were “unlawful and professionally negligent.”
The coroner advised that the nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, be criminally prosecuted for negligence for giving the singer an injection without a doctor’s prescription.
Magistrate Shotobi noted, “According to section 29 of the coroner laws of Lagos State, this court recommends the prosecution of the unlicensed medical practitioner, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, for unlawful medical practice and gross negligence.”
Additionally, the coroner found that Mohbad’s complaint to the police concerning assault and intimidation by Naira Marley and Sam Larry should be investigated further based on the revelations from the proceedings.
The coroner also criticized Mohbad’s father for hastily burying his son without insisting on an autopsy and pointed out that Mohbad’s wife should have taken him to the hospital for proper medical care instead of treating him at home.
Furthermore, it was noted that social media influencers and content creators misrepresented facts about the ongoing coroner proceedings, which undermined the court’s integrity.
The coroner’s findings included suggestions for improving healthcare service delivery and enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies to ensure community safety.
